Wright Junior High School
Lincolnshire, IL

The Actuarial Foundation’s Advancing Student Achievement (ASA) mentoring program continues at Wright Junior High School.

Mentoring opportunities will allow you to:

Work with students: Work with 6th grade students on fun math projects in an after school math and science club called SMART (Science, Math and Robot Technology) Club. Activities are designed to prepare students for the work world by fostering their ability to work in teams and to problem-solve independently.

Participate in innovation: Students, with the help of their actuarial mentors, will participate in exciting math investigations such as Alice In Wonderland which includes activities using ratio and proportion, a Gulliver’s Travels activity using ratio/proportion and fractions/percents, a “design your own carnival game” activity using probability concepts and building and programming LEGO MINDSTORMS robots.

Work in a fun environment: Two teachers will run the after school club that will take place on Thursdays from 2:45pm – 4:00pm. Come every week or every other week. Come for an hour or half an hour. The program is fun and flexible!
